Chronology is the science of arranging events in order. TV series and films are written to have one transition to another. If you watch the sequence out of order, you risk missing the parts that make sense in sequel logic. The story will break, and you miss points that glue the whole story together. Watching Science Fiction franchises in Chronological or "Timeline" order allows you to see them in the correct watching order as time progresses in the universe you are watching. This order may necessitate watching prequels before original content, different TV shows or series and movies outside of release date order, etc. This method prevents the possibility of continuity errors based on how you view the content.
